Introduction (GANGOTRI)
  It is the man's requirement to worship the Gods or tos fulfill his desire for adventure, Gangotri is an ideal location. Gangotri, the origin of the sacred river Ganges, attracts tourists in huge numbers every season. To discover the daunting rivers and attempts to reveal the mysteries of the natural world are rare sights here. Along with the thrill of exploring nature, what one experiences here is the aura that India is famous for.

GANGOTRI - LOCATION
  Located in the hills, Gangotri is at an altitude of 3048 meters above sea level. Gangotri is situated in the northern part of the state of Uttarakhand and is very near the Indo-Tibetan border. It is approximately 300 km from Dehradun, 250 km from Rishikesh and 105 km from Uttarkashi. The summers are cool and winters are very cold, with rains in the months of May and June. For the tourists, the gates of the temple are open only in the months of May to November.

Gangotri to Gaumukh Trek
According to mythology, Goddess Ganga - the daughter of heaven, manifested herself in the form of a river to absolve the sins of King Bhagiraths predecessors, following his severe penance of several centuries. Lord Shiva received into his matted locks to minimise the immense impact of her fall. She came to be called Bhagirathi at her legendary source.

The physical source of the holy river is at Gaumukh, 18 kms. further uphill, along the Gangotri Glacier. Several pilgrims trek upto the source to offer prayers either on foot or on ponies.The verdant valleys, dense forests and towering peaks offer excellent trekking and mountaineering opportunities for adventure enthusiasts.

Itinerary for Gangotri Gaumukh Trekking

DAY 01. RISHIKESH / UTTARKASHI DRIVE: 5-6 HRS. OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Early morning drive to Uttarkashi. Arrive and transfer to river side nature Resort. Remaining day to Relax and to acclimatize. Dinner and overnight rive side resort.

DAY 02. UTTARKASHI / GANGOTRI DRIVE: 8-10 HRS. OVERNIGHT HOTEL.
Morning after breakfast drive to Gangotri. may make a comfort stop at Gangnani hot springs. Those who want can have a quick refreshing bath in the pool shower. Arrive Gangotri and transfer to hotel. Visit Gangotri temple for Arti, evening prayer dedicated to goddess Ganges. Dinner and overnight hotel.

DAY 03. GANGOTRI / BHOJBASA TREK: 5- 6 HRS. OVERNIGHT CAMP
Morning after breakfast visit the famous Gangotri temple. Later we trek to Bhojbasa. The entire trek today is along the roaring Bhagirathi River. Arrive Bhojbasa and camp. Afternoon free to explore the area and to enjoy excellent sunset on Bhagirathi group of peaks. Dinner and overnight in tents.

DAY 04. BHOJBASA / GAUMUKH
Morning enjoy the panoramic view of Bhagirathi group of peaks. After breakfast trek to Gaumukh, the source of the Ganges. Explore the area and trek to Bhojbasa. Dinner and overnight at camp.

DAY 05. BHOJBASA\ GANGOTRI TREK: 4-5 HRS. OVERNIGHT HOTEL.
Morning after breakfast trek down to Gangotri. Meals and overnight hotel.

DAY 06. GANGOTRI - RISHIKESH
Morning after breakfast, derive to Rishikesh.
